PA man pleads guilty to 2010 hate crime murder, suspected of at least one other

Jeffrey Eldon Miles Sr. is suspected of being a serial killer who targeted white females. He just pleaded guilty to a 2010 murder and a trial starts next year for a 1995 murder.
The remains of the 1995 victim were found as a result of the investigation of Miles for the 2010 murder. Police found notes about the 1995 murder in Mile’s possession. Both killings were gruesome and random.
It is unknown if he has killed others.
Jeffrey Eldon Miles Sr., 50, formerly of State Line pleaded guilty to murder in general in Franklin County Court today in connection to an April 2010 killing.
Miles was scheduled to go to trial next month for the stabbing death of Kristy Dawn Hoke, 29, of Hagerstown, whose body was found in Waynesboro.
In exchange for the plea deal, District Attorney Matthew Fogal said he would not pursue the death penalty against Miles.
The court will now decide the degree of the murder. A degree of guilt hearing is expected to begin Nov. 18 to determine whether Miles committed first- second-, or third-degree murder. Fogal said the hearing is expected to last four days, and he expects to call 12 witnesses.
Miles was arrested and charged with criminal homicide on April 6, 2010, when he reportedly led local law enforcement officials to Hoke’s body, which had been dumped in a wooded area off of Ninth Street. Miles had been found earlier that morning along an Interstate 81 overpass on State Line Road threatening to harm himself.
Miles also has been charged with criminal homicide in the 1995 killing of Waynesboro teen Angie Lynn Daley. Charging documents indicate police found a notebook written by Miles that outlined the murder, and said he led police to her remains on a Waynecastle farm the day Hoke’s body was found.
Miles is still awaiting trial in Daley’s murder. It has been postponed until January 2014. He does not face the death penalty in that case.
