  2. The National Security Agency ( NSA ) has been spying on Americans for years, so said Edward Snowden, the erstwhile NSA contractor who aroused the ire of the Obama administation for making this fact known to the world. Snowden now lives in Russia, having been granted asylum by President Putin. Putin feared that Snowden would be tortured were he returned to the United States to face espionage charges, charges based on the U.S. Espionage Act of 1917. To some, Snowden is a traitor to his country and thus should be executed. To others, he is a true patriot, a courageous whistle-blower who sacrificed all via his outing of the NSA's dirty little secrets. This writer is of the latter opinion. May snowden live long and prosper...

  3. The NSA is a super-spy, American tax-payer- funded organization that, bitter irony...is an agency of the tax-payer-funded government agency that...spies on the people who fund it. Ponder: Americans are, in essence, abused by the very agencies that they fund. This is tantamount to a dog donning its own master-provided neck-chain...a slave clasping onto his arms and legs the chains of his master. Voluntary, self-imposed enthrallment. This life is strange, bizarre, to be sure. A very small but powerful coterie of humanity rules over the infinitly larger mass of humanity, an odd dynamic in itself. The question regarding this ages-old dynamic has never been adequately answered. Why do the masses of men submit, to their own peril, to the self-serving dictates of a minute minority of people who care nothing for them, people who, in the dark recesses of their hearts...hold their artificially contrived "inferiors" in contempt? Consider the military draft of young men 18 years of age and older. The 18-year-old man, callow and inexperienced in the ways of this life...allows himself to be drafted into the military for the ignoble purpose of fighting in wars that he did not start, has no "dog in the fight." He sweats and toils in hostile climes, far away from the land of his birth, far away from the loved ones of his youth, sheds his blood and loses his youth, and his life...in ill-conceived, misbegotten wars caused, instigated, fomented... by powerful powers that be for their own self-serving purposes. To be continued...
