Fort Campbell soldier Spc. Taylor Hotzoglou was robbed and murdered by Giovanne Treymane Johnson,19,and Rakeem Rashan Jones, who is 18.

A jury will hear the homicide case of two men charged with robbing and killing a Fort Campbell soldier who was giving them a ride home.

Giovanne Treymane Johnson, 19, and Rakeem Rashan Jones, 18, are both charged with first-degree murder, felony murder and aggravated robbery in connection with the shooting death of Spc. Taylor Hotzoglou.

Hotzoglou, 22, was shot multiple times on April 28 after giving the two teenagers a ride. Hotzoglou was found by a passerby dead in his car on the shoulder of Victory.

Witnesses at a preliminary hearing said Jones and Johnson robbed Hotzoglou during the ride. Jones was named as the alleged gunman.

The trial will begin on Monday, Sept. 16, at 8:30 a.m. in Judge John H. Gasaway’s court, and the two men will have a joint trial.

  1. The punishment for using a weapon should be doubled and killing a soldier should be the death penalty.

  2. The Soldier should have known better. The murderers deserve death by slow hanging because they are scum for killing a man who swore to preserve and protect the Constitution, and to give his life in their defense according to the Code of Conduct.

  3. His room mate offered to go with him; then offered Taylor his gun. A shame that many soldiers are so trusting.
